Ellie MacGarry is an artist known for her bold paintings of unidentifiable figures or identifiable body parts that are zoomed in and scaled up. It could be a torso, a nipple, a bellybutton or a pair of hands that fill the canvas in ice cream colours and paired down lines.
MacGarry was awarded the Berkofsky Award and has a work acquired by Leeds City Art Gallery as part
of the Ben Read Graduate Acquisition fund. She is a recipient of the Felix Slade scholarship, winning the Melville Nettleship Prize. She has exhibited widely across the UK and has taken part in artist’s residencies in Leeds, London and Hong Kong.
