Bharti Kher takes inspiration from artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, Francisco de Goya, and William Blake, often invoking magical beasts and allegorical tales in her work. Acclaimed for her sculptural works, Kher has also produced paintings and installations that challenge cultural and social taboos. Works like Double Take, composed of multi-layered and multi-coloured bindis, extend the artist’s commentaries on the feminine and demonstrate a subjective, non-linear experience of temporality.
