Paris-based artist Florian Zumbrunn describes himself as a painter who uses code as his medium. His artistic journey took shape following an encounter with Armenian contemporary artist Achot Achot, who taught him drawing, painting, and a new way of perceiving art. However, a conference on the creative potential of coding transformed his trajectory, inspiring him to explore the endless possibilities offered by algorithms. Today, Zumbrunn creates works that, while born in the digital realm, take shape on watercolour paper and are then hand-finished with pastels. This process, which transitions from digital to analogue, questions the role of technology in contemporary art, demonstrating that the computer can be as powerful a tool as a paintbrush. While increasingly focused on creating physical works, Zumbrunn continues to maintain a strong connection to the digital realm.
