In her contribution to Cure3, Ramsay has used the cube as an opportunity to develop her recent exploration of drawing in the expanded field. Her sculptural background remains evident with different vantage points offering up dynamic interactions between multiple elements, creating a sense of both balance and movement. In this piece, the artist has drawn on her growing ‘log of symbols’ culled from everyday encounters — be that an elastic band dropped on the pavement, the malfunctioning of an oyster card display reader or a small kink in scaffolding that creates an (un)natural spiral. Through their abstraction and reconfiguration, she speaks of trying to find the spiritual in the everyday and forging connections between different bodies — human and non — to illustrate every-body as part of an interconnected and interdependent cosmos.
