At the heart of Amy Stephens’ practice is a concern with the reclamation of natural objects and the transferability of form via appropriation. Recent explorations are rooted within the structure’s materiality, offering relationships between landscape, architecture and sculpture.
Stephens’ sculptural works have been exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally. Solo exhibitions include: Land|Reland, Upfor Gallery, Portland, USA (2018); fig-futures, The Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool, UK (2018); Retain, Reframe, Art Seen, Nicosia, Cyprus (2017); rock, paper, mountain, UV Estudios, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2016); fig2 35/50, ICA, London (2015).
Stephens' work is held in a number of public and private collections including: David Ross Foundation; Groucho Club Collection; Modern Forms Collection; Irish Office of Public Works State Collection; The Grundy Art Gallery Collection; The Rothschild Collection; Soho House Collection; Villa Lena Foundation and Zabludowicz Collection. Amy Stephens is a Trustee of the Royal Society of Sculptors and on the Advisory Board for Block Universe, an annual performance festival in London.
